This year this holiday has a significant weight for many of us as we remember in love and in rage, the hundreds of thousands of lives lost due to COVID-19 and the Trump administration’s failed handling of it. The continued murders of Black and Brown people by the police, and the ongoing pandemic of murders of trans people, 30 counted in the U.S. so far this year, making it the deadliest since records began and affecting Black trans women disproportionately.
In this year of incredible loss, we prepare to celebrate Dia de los Muertos and invite you to honor the tradition, as we resolve to keep up the fight in the name of our ancestors, our communities, and our future. One out of the many diverse popular expressions and traditions practiced on this day across the Americas, and expressly in Mexico and throughout Central America, is creating an altar or ofrenda.
This election is one we will win or lose together. We need to organize our own families to boot Trump out of office. We invite you to have a family chat to make the commitment to vote as a family and in honor of our ancestors
